Let’s Take a Tour of the Abigail Showhome in Keswick
If it’s possible to have a minimalist sentiment in such a ‘maximum’ and grand house, Ace Lange Homes has accomplished it. This Keswick showhome uses clean, long lines and smooth surfaces, with no extra fuss, to imbue its 3,181 sq ft showhome with the feeling of possibility.
The difference starts at the front door. To let in more light, the architect designed the door at a perpendicular angle, so you don’t see it from the front walk. This allows light to stream through a front window wall. The impact of light begins as soon as you step inside.
The finishing is clean and straightforward, allowing certain areas of the home their own stand-out highlights. Take the den for example. Custom creamy-coloured wainscoting adorns the walls to give it a library feel, but without the heaviness of wood panels. The den is contained by sliding double barn doors that provide a decorative office accent.
The kitchen has 2 islands: one clear, clean space for food prep with a wine fridge beneath, and another providing 4 eating spots. The cabinetry is dark, smooth and simple, contrasted by white and grey quartz countertops.
Above the kitchen nook is an inset medallion with a chandelier hanging down to punctuate the eating area. The great room has a huge inset wall tiled in earthy green-grey hues, with a rectangular fireplace set in. Wall sconce lighting adorns the tile and feels stately, yet simple. In essence, the simplicity and minimalism of the showhome allow its unique features to be genuinely highlighted.
Open tread stairs and glass railings lead upstairs to a bright bonus room overlooking the pond. To one side is the master retreat. The master bedroom is decorated with delicious, creamy tones and has beautiful millwork on the walls, adding a sense of grace. The room looks to Keswick’s pond for inspiring natural views. The ensuite is tiled from floor to ceiling in big dimension white and grey tiles and the freestanding modern tub beckons, as does the walk-in glass shower. The dressing room is creatively set to the side between bed and bath to make the morning routine a well-planned ritual.
Two additional bedrooms are separated by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a private toilet room. Be sure to check out the herringbone tile pattern. The fourth bedroom is at the home’s front. Great for a larger family!
Downstairs, the main feature is a large wet bar with a wine fridge. The flooring is hardwood with radiant heat to keep your feet warm, but, unlike carpet, it has a cleaner feel. Enjoy the bright gym space with its mirrored walls — perhaps a great spot to practice yoga while checking your alignment.
